The meeting kicked off with a comment more than a question about losing that “fervor” for the program. It happens with many of us. I know I was right there years ago when I had just bought my home in Burbank. Life was good. Business was good, and the meetings were getting boring. I needed something deeper. A message of more depth and weight. Little did I know I was about to be rocketed into that fourth dimension of existence.
Again.
Stuart G brought up the subject, and Al B had the page open before Stuart finished his comment. It was more of a comment than a question.
Big Book, Page 85, first paragraph. Go read it. I am not going to type it here!
This was a powerful beginning to a powerful discussion. We started in step 10, and moved around to steps 11, 8, 7, 6 and 2.
One of the things we read that really struck me, came after another asked about how we know when our will departs from G-d’s will. We look at page 91 in the 12 & 12. The spot check inventory. Then 12 & 12 step six page 65 first paragraph. Here we look specifically at how we know the difference between our will and G-ds. Another answer that isn’t directly in the book, but it struck me later was that we do the footwork, and we leave the results to G-d. So I don’t presume to know what the solutions are. I just do the next right indicated thing, and then get out of my way. I leave the results to G-d. I don’t ask for help and then tell the person I am asking what the solution should be. I let the person I am asking for help tell me what the solution is. Otherwise, what’s the point of asking for help?
I’ll tell you the thing that struck me the most last week. After the meeting, there were still people hanging around. The meeting had broken off into clusters of two or three. I quietly stepped away from my cluster and walked around. I was curious.
Everyone was talking about the books! It was magic. We had a meeting that focuses on the solution, and the meeting after the meeting was all about solution.
Funny how that works!
I loved this blog wrap-up of the meeting, Seth, and absolutely loved the meeting itself! Thank you!!
